How does QR credential verification work?

ICONIC Board — Standards & Credentialing DivisionUpdated April 2026
Back to all FAQ topics

Every ICONIC Board credential comes with a unique QR code linked to a live verification page. Scanning the code with any smartphone camera opens a real-time status page — showing name, credential tier, issue date, and whether the credential is currently active. No app download required.

Each credentialed practitioner receives a unique QR code linked to their personal verification page on iconicboard.health. When anyone scans this QR code using a standard smartphone camera, they are taken directly to a page that shows:

  • The practitioner's full name and credential designation
  • Credential tier (e.g., IBC-HHP™ — Professional)
  • Issue date and current status: Active or Expired
  • ICONIC Board's official verification mark

No app download, login, or subscription is required to scan and verify. The QR code works with any camera app on iOS or Android.

Yes — the verification page reflects real-time credential status. If a credential is renewed, updated, suspended, or expires, the verification page updates automatically.

This is a critical feature. Unlike a static PDF or printed certificate that can be altered or forged, the ICONIC Board QR verification page is always authoritative. There is no way to fake an active credential status.

Why this matters: This live link is what makes an ICONIC credential verifiable, not just claimable. It's the same principle used by professional credentialing bodies like PMI and SHRM.

Your QR badge is a digital image (PNG and SVG formats) you can use anywhere you want clients or employers to be able to verify your credential:

  • Your website or practitioner profile page
  • Business cards and printed marketing materials
  • Email signature
  • Client intake forms and session documents
  • Social media profiles (pinned post, story highlight, bio link)
  • LinkedIn profile (in the credentials section)
  • Digital and printed certificates you issue to your own clients

Your badge is available for download from your practitioner dashboard immediately after credentialing.

If your credential expires without renewal, your QR code continues to link to your verification page — but the page will display your credential status as Expired. Anyone who scans your code will see this clearly.

Upon renewal, your status updates to Active immediately. You do not receive a new QR code — the same code reflects your current, up-to-date status.

Yes. In addition to the QR code, each practitioner has a unique verification URL (a web address) that can be shared directly as a hyperlink. Anyone with this URL can open it in any browser to verify the credential.

You can also search for any practitioner directly in the public directory or use the credential verification portal to look up a credential by practitioner name.
