What Credentialing Guarantees

When a practitioner holds an ICONIC Board credential, it means they have met specific professional standards:

What Happens When Standards Are Violated

The ICONIC Board Ethics & Standards Committee follows a rigorous, fair process for addressing concerns:

Step 1: Report Filed

A concern is submitted via the Consumer Trust Center or by another practitioner, employer, or member of the public.

Step 2: Initial Assessment

The Ethics & Standards Committee conducts an initial review to determine if the concern falls within ICONIC Board's jurisdiction and warrants investigation.

Step 3: Investigation

If warranted, a formal investigation is conducted. The practitioner is notified and given an opportunity to respond. Additional evidence may be gathered.

Step 4: Determination

The Committee makes a finding. Possible outcomes range from no action (concern unsubstantiated) to credential revocation.

Step 5: Sanctions (if applicable)

Possible sanctions include:

  • Private warning (not public)
  • Required additional training
  • Public reprimand (published in public records)
  • Probation (credential restricted, publicly noted)
  • Suspension (credential temporarily inactive)
  • Revocation (credential permanently removed)

Step 6: Appeals

The practitioner may appeal within 30 days. Appeals are reviewed by a separate panel.

How to Verify a Credential

Consumers can verify any ICONIC Board credential for free. This is an essential consumer protection tool.

  • Use the free public verification tool at /trust
  • Enter the practitioner's name or credential number
  • Verify: credential is current (not expired)
  • Verify: credential is in good standing (no disciplinary actions)
  • Verify: credential type matches what they claim
If a practitioner claims to be ICONIC Board credentialed but doesn't appear in our verification system, that's a red flag.

Our Complaint Resolution Process

We are committed to timely, thorough review of all concerns. Here are the timelines consumers can expect:
