James Achebe grew up in his grandmother’s kitchen in Lagos, where plant medicine wasn’t “alternative” — it was just medicine. He carried that knowledge through a biochemistry degree at Howard University, a clinical herbalism certification from the American Herbalists Guild (AHG), and five years of apprenticeship with a traditional Yoruba herbalist.
His practice, Achebe Botanical Wellness, bridges African traditional herbalism with Western functional medicine. He formulates custom botanical protocols, works alongside his clients’ physicians, and maintains one of Atlanta’s most comprehensive herbal apothecaries.
James holds dual ICONIC credentials: the IBC-HHP™ for his clinical practice and the IBC-HHS™ Specialist endorsement in Herbalism. He was among the first practitioners to pursue the specialty pathway.
