Program an NFC card or badge so clients can tap their phone to instantly verify your ICONIC credential. No app needed — it just works.

How it works

An NFC smart badge contains a tiny chip that broadcasts a URL when a smartphone is held near it. You program it once with your personal verification link. When a client or colleague taps their phone to your badge, their browser opens your live credential verification page on ICONIC Board — confirming your name, tier, and active status instantly.

Step 1: Get an NFC Card

Any NTAG215 or NTAG216 NFC card works. Here are our recommended options:

NTAG215 PVC Card

504 bytes · ISO 14443A

Credit card size. Works with all NFC-enabled phones. Most popular choice for practitioners. Available on Amazon for $1-3 each.

NTAG216 PVC Card

888 bytes · ISO 14443A

More storage for future features. Same size as a credit card. Slightly more expensive but future-proof.

NFC Sticker (25mm)

504 bytes · Round

Stick on the back of your existing badge, business card holder, or clipboard. Discrete and professional.

💡 Search tip

On Amazon or eBay, search for "NTAG215 blank white NFC cards". A pack of 10 usually costs $8-15. We recommend getting a few extras for backups.

Step 2: Download an NFC Writer App

You'll need a free app to program the NFC card. Here are the best options:

Step 3: Program Your Card

Copy your verification URL

Your URL will look like:

https://iconic-board.polsia.app/verify/YOUR-TOKEN

Open the NFC writer app

Open NFC Tools (or your chosen app). Navigate to Write → Add a Record → URL/URI.

Paste your verification URL

Paste the verification URL from Step 1 into the URL field. Make sure it's the full URL starting with https://.

Hold your NFC card to your phone

Tap Write, then hold the NFC card flat against the back of your phone (usually near the top). Hold still for 2-3 seconds until you see "Write successful!"

Test it!

Move the card away, then bring it back to your phone. Your verification page should open automatically in the browser. If it works — you're done! 🎉

🔒 Lock your tag (optional)

Most NFC writer apps let you "lock" or "write-protect" the tag after programming. This prevents anyone from accidentally overwriting your verification URL. Recommended for badges you'll hand out or wear daily.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the client need an app?

No. All modern smartphones (iPhone 7+, most Android phones from 2018+) read NFC tags natively. The client just holds their phone near the card and their browser opens automatically.

What if I renew my credential?

Your verification URL stays the same even after renewal. The NFC tag always points to your live credential status, so it automatically reflects your current status — no need to reprogram the card.

Can I order pre-programmed branded cards?

How long does the NFC card last?

NFC cards have no battery — they're powered by the reading device's electromagnetic field. A quality NTAG215 card will last 10+ years and can be read unlimited times.
